Dr. Ronald Kvitne is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has over 45 years of experience in the field of orthopaedic surgery, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of shoulder, elbow, and knee disorders and injuries. Dr. Kvitne is a well-respected and established orthopaedic surgeon who draws on his decades of experience to provide unmatched care and precise diagnoses, helping his patients regain optimal mobility and improve their quality of life. He is the former program director of the KJOB Sports Medicine Fellowship program, highlighting his knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Kvitne is also a qualified medical examiner, utilizing his advanced surgical and orthopaedic knowledge to provide expert medical opinions. When it comes to the field of orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Kvitne has done it all. After earning his medical degree from the UC San Francisco School of Medicine, Dr. Kvitne completed a general surgery internship, followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship at Northwestern University Medical Center. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the legendary Kerlan-Jobe Clinic, learning from the fathers of modern sports medicine, and continues to practice there today.
Dr. Kvitne has had an illustrious career as both an orthopaedic surgeon and an educator, having served as an associate clinical professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at USC School of Medicine, one of the most prestigious medical schools in the country. His experience is extensive and varied, with professional appointments ranging from serving as medical director for professional sports teams such as the Los Angeles Kings and the Los Angeles Blades to serving as medical director for Centinela Sports Medicine Center in Santa Monica, CA.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kvitne has been an accomplished researcher and lecturer, having authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles on orthopaedic techniques and innovations, including crucial research on arthroscopic techniques and efficacy, many of which were co-authored with legendary sports medicine physicians Dr. Robert Kerlan, Dr. Frank Jobe, and Dr. Lewis Yocum. Dr. Kvitne’s research has led to substantial innovation and advancements in the field and is highly regarded by his peers as an invaluable contribution.

Dr. Kvitne has had a long professional relationship with the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic, beginning with his sports medicine fellowship through today, as he serves as a legacy partner and fellow board member. Dr. Kvitne worked closely with Drs. Kerlan, Jobe, and Yocum and is proud to continue their legacy and uphold their values. He has also served as a former director of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic fellowship program, offering his invaluable professional expertise in the important work of training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.

In addition to his busy orthopaedic practice and medical legal expert witness business, Dr. Kvitne previously served as team physician for the Los Angeles Kings, the Anaheim Angels, and the Los Angeles Galaxy, having served the Kings for over 20 years. He is currently an orthopaedic consultant for the National Hockey League and, crucially, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, one of the most notoriously dangerous sports. Dr. Kvitne’s expert advice and medical care are invaluable in keeping these athletes safe and in fighting shape.
