While an increasing number of neurologists are participating in the management of athletes and employing physical activity and training in the treatment neurological disease, there is a gap in training, research, and experience that we aim to fill with our Sports Neurology Fellowship. Kerlan-Jobe is among the early leaders in the development of sports neurology training and sub-specialization. Our Fellowship provides the opportunity to more intensely study and develop neurological evaluation and treatment skills and then apply them to sports medicine. The Kerlan-Jobe Sports Neurology Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for Neurologists to gain valuable experience through work with a practicing Sports Neurologist, world renowned Orthopedic specialists, and related program consultants.
The training program includes clinical and didactic training in basic science, and comprehensive clinical evaluation and management of sports neurology-related issues, interacts with collegiate and high school athletic programs in addition to elite and professional athletes and programs. Participation in research is expected and Fellow will have opportunity to combine interests with orthopaedic and primary care sport medicine Fellows. Applicants must have must have a California State medical license prior to the start of the fellowship year.
