This shoulder and elbow fellowship is designed to be mentorship-focused with Dr. Itamura as the main mentor and teacher for the year. Educational focus is on solidifying physical examination skills, operative and non-operative indications and advancing surgical skills in both arthroscopic and open shoulder and elbow procedures. Also, the recent addition of Dr. Lee to the faculty has resulted in more educational opportunities and participation in additional surgical cases.
Fellows typically participate in an average of 700 cases per year. Cases include arthroscopic shoulder and elbow procedures as well as open trauma, reconstruction, arthroplasty and revision cases. Approximately 60% of cases are shoulder and 40% are elbow. Of the total number of cases approximately 40% are arthroscopic.
