Diagnostic Imaging

An accurate, timely diagnosis is the first step to healing and recovery. It is possible that as part of understanding the nature and extent of your particular condition, you may be referred for a range of diagnostic services, including advanced imaging such as MRI, CT and musculoskeletal ultrasound. These diagnostic services help your doctor recommend the most appropriate treatment for your condition.

Our technicians and staff provide our patients with state-of-the-art imaging technologies and innovative treatment options in a compassionate environment. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact an office listed below.

Services

  • Arthrogram
An arthrogram is a type of X-ray in which a contrast material such as a dye, air or both is injected into a joint. Arthrography is used so that your doctor or surgeon can see the soft tissues of the joint (tendons, ligaments, muscles and cartilage) better. These things cannot be seen on a standard X-ray.
  • Computed tomography (CT)
Computed tomography (also known as a CT or CAT scan) uses a narrow beam of X-rays and high-powered computers to generate images of bones and soft-tissues in the body. For any CT study, if your doctor gave you an order, please bring it with you. Most CT exams do not require preparation. The exceptions are studies involving the abdomen or pelvis, Colonography and CTs which are done along with a PET exam. Contact one of our imaging offices regarding preparation information for these exceptions.
  • Discogram
A discogram is an x-ray procedure to evaluate the intervertebral disc and to determine if your pain or other symptoms are specifically related to an abnormality of the disc. CT scans are often done after the X-rays.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan can be critical to planning surgery or treating head and neck disorders. Although it is not as precise in evaluating bony structures, MRI gives superior detail of soft tissues like nerves, the spinal cord and the brain.
  • Myelogram
A myelogram uses X-rays and a special dye called contrast material to visualize the spaces between the bones in your spinal column. A myelogram may be done to find a tumor, an infection, problems with the spine such as a bulging disc and arthritis. CT scans are often done after the X-rays, while the dye is still in your body.
  • X-Ray
An X-ray is used to create an image of the inside of your body. X-rays can help to identify injuries (fractures or sport injuries), joint swelling (arthritis), weakened bones (osteoporosis) or other abnormalities that may be causing pain.
